The Department of Extranormal Operations (DEO) is a United States Government Agency that is tasked with closely monitoring and if necessary interfering with known metahumans.
History[]
Arkham Origins Blackgate Incident[]
Three months before the events at Blackgate, Catwoman infiltrated and stole classified data from one of the DEO's buildings. As a result, the DEO sent a squad to hunt her down. Batman intervened trying to stop Catwoman, mistaking the squad for a SWAT team. The DEO mistakenly assumed that he was her accomplice and targeted him as well, forcing the Dark Knight to neutralize the DEO soldiers while pursuing Catwoman.
Arkham Shadow Incident[]
As of the Rat Uprising on Independence Day, the DEO had Mr. Freeze, Calendar Man and Killer Croc in their custody as evident by a whiteboard at GCPD mentioning this.
Sucide Squad: Kill the Justice League Incident[]
The D.E.O. has an office in Metropolis, in the Central Business District. It is also confirmed as of Season 1 that Lois Lane has contacts within the D.E.O.; when Lois Lane was investigating the emergence of Brainiac’s corruption of the Justice League’s Watchtower technology, her contacts told her that the towers were not for surveillance, but rather that they were looking across dimensions, leading her to the conclusion that Brainiac was searching for something or someone for reasons unknown.
Trivia[]
- Amanda Waller in the comics was a member of the DEO, although in the Arkham series, she's a member of the Department of Justice instead.
