Dr. Sydney Happersen was a scientific assistant to Lex Luthor, who had worked for LexCorp for 20 years. When the Suicide Squad secretly attempted to desert during the Metropolis Invasion, Happersen attempted to remove the nano-bombs inside each squad member’s neck so that they could escape, only for Amanda Waller, Rick Flag, and a squad of A.R.G.U.S. Soldiers to storm LexCorp. Amanda Waller brutally injured Happersen and attempted to strongarm him into giving her access to Luthor’s files, or else she would shoot his other leg. However, Luthor intervened, contacting Waller remotely, via video signal, mocking Waller for even trying to arrest Luthor. Before an argument could ensue, he turned his attention to Happersen, and grimly told him he was “dismissed”, before purging his entire data cache and and wired the metallic collar around Happersen’s neck to explode, despite Happersen’s begging him not to, only for Luthor to hang up. Happersen then struggled with Waller, before his head exploded, killing him. This did nothing to Waller in particular apart from drench her in Happersen’s blood, and angering her.

From the Files of Lex Luthor[]

Sydney Happersen, one of LexCorp’s shining stars! Not that I know much about him, but let’s put together a small profile. He deserves at least that much.

Truly an all-American pulled—up-by-the-bootstraps story, Sydney started in the mail room. Or perhaps as an intern? Whatever lowly position it was, he slowly clawed his way up from within the company hierarchy. Insightful and intelligent, but not terribly creative. Destined to play only a bit part in the realm of scientific advancement and carry the load of a much greater mind.

Happersen is as a solidly decent assistant, but made awful coffee. Curious, really, when you consider the chemistry degree.
