Superman, whose real name is Kal-El and whose secret identity is Clark Kent, is one of the most powerful superheroes on Earth. He is one of the last children of Krypton, sent as the dying planet's last hope to Earth, where he grew to become its kind, noble protector. Using his flight, incredible super-strength, super-speed, invulnerability, freezing breath, and heat-vision, he protects the planet and the universe from powerful threats, all while inspiring hope into others. He is also a founding member of the Justice League.

Before Arkham Origins Incident

Born as Kal-El on the dying planet Krypton, his parents Jor-El and Lara sent him n a rocket to the planet Earth where he would be the last surviving member of his race. His rocket was discovered by the kindly Jonathan and Martha Kent, who raised him as their son Clark Kent in the town of Smallville, Kansas. His upbringing provided him with strong moral values, and life-long friends. In his secret identity he works as a reporter at the Daily Planet in the city of Metropolis. This is where he interacts with his love interest Lois Lane, and his co-workers Perry White and Jimmy Olsen. His greatest nemesis is the brilliant super-villain Lex Luthor.

Arkham Knight Incident

While not involved in any of the events of Arkham Knight, Superman was active in Metropolis long enough to appear on promotional material for Metropolis, Additionally, some of the Arkham Knight's militia questioned if Superman would be their next target after Batman.

Before Kill the Justice League Incident

At some point Superman teamed up with the Flash to defeat Gorilla Grodd.

After the events of Batman: Arkham Knight, according to Jack Ryder, the superheroes from Metropolis, notably Superman, approached Batman and extended an invitation for him to join the Justice League. He later worked with the Justice League to promote an upcoming event called "Justice Day" at their headquarters, trying to give the citizens of Metropolis a better understanding of their operations. It was on this day that Brainiac arrived in Metropolis and began his invasion of the city. At Superman's suggestion, and despite Batman's doubts, the League would meet with Brainiac to find out his motivations before trying to convince him to stand down, however Superman, along with Green Lantern and Batman are brainwashed by the alien invader and forced to aid him in his invasion, only Wonder Woman and the Flash manage to avoid getting brainwashed until Batman captures the Flash during an encounter with Amanda Waller's Task Force X, leaving Diana the only member of the League left to fight her team members.

Kill the Justice League Incident

Superman would remain on Brainiac's Skull Ship as part of a contingency plan called "Project K", until making his first physical appearance stopping Amanda Waller's nuke from destroying the Skull Ship, following King Shark using the now dead Green Lantern's ring to create an opening in the ship's shield. At first Captain Boomerang is ecstatic to see Superman, as he had just stopped the nuke from going off and killing Boomerang and the rest of his team, until he quickly remembers that the Man of Steel is under the control of Brainiac. Superman quickly leaves with the nuke after he sees Wonder Woman arrive to stop him, and causes the nuke to go off above Metropolis, and the fact he made the nuke explode well above the city causes Wonder Woman to believe that the real Superman was still somewhere inside the corrupted mind-controlled slave of Brainiac, however as she expresses her belief that the heroes under Brainiac's control can be freed despite what the Flash had told her before, Wonder Woman is very quickly attacked by Superman. The two friends engage in a fight all across Metropolis until Wonder Woman punches Superman hard enough to make him crash right outside the Hall of Justice just as Task Force X, who had been escorting an injured Waller all while avoiding the heroes' fight, arrive to witness the continuing battle. Eventually Wonder Woman manages to gain the upper hand and stabs Superman in the chest with a broken piece of her shield that was made out of Kryptonite, however it's revealed that Superman has been augmented by Brainiac, and is now seemingly unaffected to his only known weakness, and proceeds to fatally wound Wonder Woman by blasting her at full power with his heat vision before he retreats back to the Skull Ship once it seems the effects of the Kryptonite begins to start weakening him.

As part of the team's plan to draw Superman out of hiding and kill him, Harley Quinn shoots and kills Batman at point blank range which gets the Man of Steel's attention, bemused by the fact that Batman, "one of the world's finest heroes", was killed by a group like the Suicide Squad. After being threatened by Harley, and he in turn about to kill them all, Captain Boomerang throws an oddly coloured piece of Kryptonite, carved into a boomerang at Superman, who at first is smug once he catches and stops what looked to be an attack by Boomerang, until he sees that his body is actually reacting negatively to this Kryptonite; what Superman didn't realise in time was that the Suicide Squad, with the aid of Lex Luthor from Earth-2, had developed a new variant of Kryptonite, dubbed Gold Kryptonite, that was strong enough to once again fully weaken and affect Superman, with the team also attaching pieces onto themselves. Angered by this, Superman uses his heat vision to destroy the Kryptonite boomerang before taking the team on in a fight. during which he forces the clouds to part using his flight and super speed, so that he could regain his strength through the sun and counter-act the effects of the Gold Kryptonite. However, thanks to the Gold Kryptonite Superman is weakened to the point that Task Force X are able to land successive blows to him, and after a long and hard battle the team land one final hit to Superman, causing him to start losing control of his heat vision, and with one final scream Superman falls dead on the ground, the Suicide Squad have just ended the life of Metropolis' Man of Steel, and the last living member of the Justice League, finally completing their mission to kill the Justice League.

Ah, the Man of Steel and defender of Metropolis! One would be hard-pressed to find a worthier adversary, yet he is said to be a kind empathetic soul. Born on Krypton and whisked away mere moments before the planet’s implosion, he grew up on a simple farm in the middle of North America. Discovering his powers and deciding to use them for the good of all, he quickly became the hero we all know as Superman.

We would be in dire straits had he taken the much simpler and less morally complex road of becoming an unyielding tyrant. As evidenced by the current situation.

It’s a bird! It’s a plane! It’s…the greatest threat to mankind’s continued existence.

Stop me if you’ve heard this one: the terrified inhabitants of a planet on the brink of destruction choose to squabble over petty differences and enact bizarre contingencies, rather than take any action bold or clever enough to save their own world.

No, this isn’t our own Earth. It’s Krypton. Birthplace of Superman, and one of the primary reasons we now find ourselves at Brainiac’s mercy. When Krypton failed, they sent a single infant to find safe haven there, and in so doing, they sent us a ticking time bomb that now, almost forty years later, is primed to explode.

It feels needless to give more specifics on the “hero” whose name and face have become the very symbol of hope and justice, but nevertheless, some facts:

Superman is a highly-skilled, highly-dangerous alien capable of everything from flight to impossible feats of strength to melting the flesh from your grinning skull with little more than a glance. And thanks to his aw-shucks, small town relatability and movie-star good looks, we’ve allowed him to act with unregulated impunity at the helm of the Justice League and handed him the keys to the proverbial kingdom. Why protect ourselves, why enact restrictions, when the great Superman has our backs?

Well, let’s look at where it’s gotten us. Now that he’s corrupted, we’re on the wrong side of a gun we loaded, and no amount of pull-yourself-up-by-your-bootstraps teamwork is going to save the day. Despite the consistent warnings from thought leaders like your world’s Lex Luthor, the very thing we hoped would be our salvation will herald our extinction.

So look to the skies one last time, and sleep in the bed you made.

• This isn't the first time Nolan North has voiced Superman, having previously voiced him in the Young Justice cartoon.
  • He also voiced Superboy, Superman's clone in the same show.
• This incarnation of Superman is not the first to turn evil in a DC game. The NetherRealm Studios game, Injustice: Gods Among Us, largely revolved around that same idea. Ironically in Injustice 2, Superman and other fallen heroes allied with remaining heroes to oppose the threat of Brainiac, while in Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, Superman is shown to be antagonistic due to being controlled by Brainiac.
  • This is also the case in a few other games, like Nightmare Superman from Infinite Crisis, Controlled Superman (due to Starro's spores) fought in DC Universe Online and another Controlled Superman in Lego Batman 3: Beyond Gotham, acting as the final enemy of the game (which the Brainiac in that game is also responsible for).
• According to Lex Luthor's biography for Superman in Kill the Justice League, as Kal-El arrived on Earth 40 years before the events of both this game and the entire Arkham series, this would make Superman 40 years old by the events of Kill the Justice League.
• The reason for Brainiac being able to brainwash most of the Justice League is revealed in audio files to be because of Superman's optimism of the situation they were facing; believing Brainiac could be negotiated with, while Batman, known for being slow to trust others, not being as convinced.
• Everyone on the League calls him Kal. He is never once called by his human name of Clark. Possibly Superman chose not to give his human name to the League or sees being called by his Kryptonian name as a symbol of closeness.
• Thanks to Brainiac, this version of Superman is shown having immunity to green Kryptonite, as demonstrated in his fight with Wonder Woman. However, he is shown after killing Wonder Woman to start getting affected by the Kryptonite lodged in his chest before retreating back to the Skull Ship, suggesting the augments didn't completely remove his weakness to Kryptonite, and that direct exposure to Kryptonite, such as stabbing it into his body, can still effect him.
  • Green Kryptonite is also shown to be the only type in the Arkham series, until Lex Luthor creates a stronger variant that can once again weaken the brainwashed Superman, in the form of Gold Kryptonite.
• Lex Luthor’s bed metaphor in his file on Superman is a reference to the common saying “You made your bed. Now lie in it.” (Id est: “You made your choice. Now live with the consequences.”), in reference to Superman’s brainwashed betrayal of his moral code and attacking of humanity.
