Genius is a side mission-related Achievement/Trophy in Batman: Arkham City.
Description[]
"Rescue all the hostages from Riddler"
Obtaining[]
This achievement/trophy is unlocked by tracking down Riddler's Lair, defeating Riddler, and freeing his hostages. This requires completing all 400 of his Riddles beforehand, thus completing the Enigma Conundrum side mission. Notably, this requires the completion of several other pieces of the game before Riddler can be confronted:
- The Main Story - besides the fact that Batman needs every gadget he acquires in the main story to complete all of Riddler's challenges (including TYGER's master control protocol retrieved during Protocol 10), a Riddler Trophy in the Subway can't be collected until the main story is completed (it's locked behind the aforementioned master control protocol, but Batman can't enter the Subway once Protocol 10 begins until the story is finished).
- "A.R. Training" - the Grapnel Boost is required for several physical challenges and trophies, though the player only needs to finish the first four AR training modules to unlock the upgrade.
- "Cold Call Killer" - Zsasz's Hideout contains two trophies and a Riddle.
- "Heart of Ice" - Mr. Freeze and Nora's reunion is the solution to a Riddle.
- "Hot and Cold" - a physical challenge requires the Freeze Cluster Grenade.
- "Remote Hideaway" - several trophies require the ability to detonate mines.
- "The Tea Party" - Mad Hatter's Lair contains a Riddle.
Notes[]
- As a side effect of the missions that need be completed before Riddler can be defeated, by the time the player unlocks this achievement/trophy, they will have also unlocked Ring Ring, Dial Z For Murder, Stop The Clock, Bargaining Chip, all of the previous Riddler-related achievements/trophies, and all of the story-related achievements/trophies.
- The side mission only tracks the first 400 Riddles solved, meaning that although none of Catwoman's collectibles are required to trigger the hostages or end the mission, completing any of them will count towards the required 400.
