The Green Lantern Corps are an intergalactic peacekeeping force established thousands of years ago by the Guardians of the Universe, harnessing the green power of Will. Every Green Lantern is selected by the strength of their willpower and given a power ring that creates energy constructs controlled by will. They patrol all 3600 sectors of the known universe. Their home planet is Oa, where their Central Power Battery is located. The Green Lanterns are not the only peacekeeping force created by the Guardians, and their past failed experiments have included the androids known as the Manhunters as well as their ally-turned-enemy Sinestro who would go on to form the Sinestro Corps.
At some point the Green Lantern Corps fought the Sinestro Corps alongside The Justice League.
