The Justice League is an organization comprised of the world's greatest superheroes. When the alien scientist Brainiac began an invasion on Earth in Metropolis the team's leader, Superman, along with the rest of the League, attempted to talk Brainiac out of invading the planet. However Brainiac would use this moment to capture three members of the team and create brainwashed clones of Superman, Green Lantern and Batman to serve as his lieutenants in his invasion. Initially only Wonder Woman and the Flash managed to avoid this fate until the Batman clone successfully brought the Flash to the Skull Ship where he was also cloned and kept captive with his team mates, leaving Wonder Woman as the only member left to fight against the Brainiac Justice League.

Incident Reports[]

Before Kill the Justice League Incident[]

When Brainiac began plans to invade Metropolis after arriving on Earth, the Justice League would travel to the Skull Ship in order to talk Brainiac out of invading the city, and despite Batman's scepticism Superman was optimistic that Brainiac could be reasoned with. Brainiac would take advantage of the Man of Steel's optimism and proceed to capture Superman, Batman and Green Lantern while Wonder Woman and the Flash would manage to escape. After capturing the heroes Brainiac would take some of their genetic material and create brainwashed clones of the three Justice League members to serve as his lieutenants, while keeping the real Superman, Batman and Green Lantern in statis and duplicating the powers of Green Lantern and Superman to use himself by shifting into forms similar to theirs. When Brainiac began his invasion he sent the Green Lantern and Batman clones out to aid in the conquest of Metropolis, while keeping the Superman clone in the Skull Ship as part of a contingency plan called "Project K". As no one knew what Brainiac had done, the entire city, including the Flash and Wonder Woman would believe the clones were the real heroes under Brainiac's control.

Kill the Justice League Incident[]

After hearing of the danger Metropolis was currently under, Amanda Waller would recruit Harley Quinn, Captain Boomerang, King Shark and a man claiming to be the real Deadshot by force into Task Force-X and send them to Metropolis for their first task: to kill the "Justice League". After an encounter with the Green Lantern clone resulted in the Flash saving them and becoming injured in the process, the Suicide Squad would take the weakened hero to the Batman Experience to hide, unaware the Batman clone had tracked them down, he proceeds to take the group out one by one and almost kill Quinn with a gun, however the Flash manages to stop the bullet in time and gets a severe beating from the Batman clone for saving Quinn. Before possibly beating the Flash to death, the Batman clone is instructed by Brainiac to return to the Skull Ship with the Flash, who Brainiac then keeps in statis with the real League members, creates a clone of him and then duplicates his powers on top of the previous powers he already duplicated, leaving only Wonder Woman left to fight against Brainiac and his Justice League clones. The Flash clone is soon sent out to join his fellow cloned League members in aiding them with Brainiac's invasion, and even succeeds in killing Lex Luthor in his first encounter with the Suicide Squad, while the Batman clone would watch the team from afar whenever they were out fighting against Brainiac's forces. Eventually, after fixing a device their Luthor had used on the Flash clone that disrupted his connection to the Speed Force, the Suicide Squad manage to kill the Flash clone.

After killing the Flash clone and discovering the existence of alternate worlds from their own, the team would be aided by another Lex Luthor from one of these worlds in finding other ways to weaken and kill the "Justice League". After finding a Yellow Lantern core and finding out it could counteract and destroy any constructs Green Lantern could create, the Suicide Squad would use it to fight against and kill the Green Lantern clone, though things seemed to look grim when the Superman clone is finally dispatched by Brainiac and foils a plan by Waller to nuke the Skull Ship. Arriving with a sword made from Kryptonite Wonder Woman would engage in a brutal fight with who she believed to be her friend, a fight which ended with her death once it was discovered Brainiac had augmented the Superman clone to be near impervious to Green Kryptonite, leading the Suicide Squad to search for the Batcave in order to see if Batman had come up with anything that could stop Superman. After finding the Batcave and and activating a hologram message that revealed the Anti-Flash device and the Yellow Lantern core were actually part of a contingency plan Batman had created in the event the League were to go rogue (and finding out much to Quinn's annoyance that Batman hadn't revealed a way to stop him, claiming there wasn't a way to), the Batman clone would fill the entire Batcave with Fear Toxin just before the Suicide Squad could find a way to weaken the Superman clone. Stalking the team in the form of a demonic looking version of Batman, the Batman clone is eventually exposed to his own Fear Toxin after Harley creates a different strain of it and allowing the team to fight against the Batman clone, now in the form of a gigantic Demon-Bat, and manage to defeat him and take the Batman clone back to Lex-2 in order to extract information on how to weaken the Superman clone. After discovering from the Batman clone a method to create a stronger variant of Kryptonite dubbed Gold Kryptonite, the Suicide Squad would use the Batman clone as a means to bring the Superman clone to them, with Harley Quinn shooting the Batman clone point blank in the head and killing him. The death of his fellow clone soon brings the Superman clone to the Suicide Squad as he prepares to kill them, before he can however Captain Boomerang flings what the Superman clone believes to be a regular boomerang at him that he easily catches, and only realizes too late it's a different variant of Kryptonite that does succeed in weakening him enough to allow the team to fight and even harm the Superman clone. After a long and difficult fight the clone of the Man of Steel finally loses control of his heat vision before falling down dead on the floor, the Suicide Squad believing themselves successful in finally killing the Justice League.

Truth revealed[]

As Brainiac continued his invasion without his Justice League and continued to have his variant bodies killed by the Suicide Squad, the team would soon discover that the Flash and Green Lantern were somehow alive again, and were tasked by Amanda Waller to rescue the two heroes; the Flash would be rescued in an Elseworld completely frozen over, while Green Lantern would be found hanging from a piece of a Gotham City devastated by Fear Toxin after being saved by Deadshot's daughter, though both were kept in their display cases in the Hall of Justice to recover after the cloning process had weakened them both. Mrs. Freeze, a female variant of Mr. Freeze who had hailed from the frozen Elseworld, eventually came up with a theory for how the two heroes were now alive and no longer under Brainiac's control: the Justice League the Suicide Squad had killed were actually clones created by Brainiac.

This theory would be proven true during the Squad's final fight against Brainiac; as Brainiac was distracted by Superman returning he is soon knocked out and defeated by Batman, who confirms the four heroes had indeed been cloned much to the surprise and annoyance of the members of the Suicide Squad that had killed the clones.

Trivia[]

  • It had been speculated online after the release of Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League that Brainiac had actually cloned the heroes the Suicide Squad had killed. The Flash having both thumbs again after one had been severed before his capture, along with the Green Lantern Ring not flying away immediately to find a new wearer after John Stewart's death being considered clues to the Justice League being cloned. This is hinted at in later season updates after an audio log has Mrs. Freeze voice her theory of the clone Justice League, while the eighth and final episode for the game would fully confirm the Justice League members under Brainiac's control had been clones the entire time.
  • Wonder Woman is the only member of the real Justice League to not be captured and cloned by Brainiac, and is the only member of the League to die during the events of the game.
