The Maroni Crime Family was one of Gotham City's oldest and most powerful crime families. Led by Salvatore Maroni, they were the main rivals of the Falcone Crime Family.

Incident Reports[]

Before Arkham Origins Incident[]

Salvatore Maroni and his Family had a long-standing feud with the Falcone Crime Family led by Carmine Falcone, Which goes back to his father Luigi's rivalry with Carmine's father, Vincent Falcone.

At a later point Falcone's and Maroni's men were known to have fought a bloody battle across Gotham, claiming one city block after another. Eventually the two crime bosses realized that they'd lost enough men to a war that would only end with both of their deaths. They then took part in a long negotiation which resulted in them dividing Gotham City and claiming control of precisely designated areas within.

Prior to Christmas Eve, Sal was apprehended and tried. Although the case' conclusion is unknown, Maroni was indicted with at least four charges. This case also resulted in numerous cops on Maroni's payroll being arrested. The police denied Batman's involvement in the case, although this proved to be false, as the vigilante's closed case 151 was a full investigation on Maroni.

Before Cold Cold Heart Incident[]

After the death of Commissioner Gillian Loeb on Christmas Eve, Mayor Hill made the push for Peter Grogan as the new Gotham Police Commissioner, however, soon anonymous envelopes were sent to numerous media outlets that included evidence linking Grogan to the Maroni Family, allegations he denied, though it led him to forfeit from running for the position, resulting in James Gordon becoming Commissioner.

Arkham Shadow Incident[]

After Carmine Falcone's incarceration at Blackgate, the Maroni Family and other gangs began targeting Falcone Territories.

Before Arkham City Incident[]

Sometime after the Arkham Asylum incident, The Maronis and the Falcones engaged in another gang war, which was one of the most violent and brutal they had ever been through.

At some point the Maronis gathered at their restaurant to talk about how to finally win the war between themselves and the Falcones. As they talked, the building was surrounded by Falcone's men, who opened fire on the building. Most of the Maronis inside were killed, and their leadership eliminated. All of the remaining Maronis, including Sal Maroni, were incarcerated in Arkham City.

Arkham City Incident[]

Although inmates within Arkham City, the Maronis paths' never crossed with Batman's on the night that he was sent there. Batman did, however, have to locate their restaurant, which was in Penguin (and later Two-Face)'s territory, to solve a riddle left by The Riddler.

After Arkham Knight Incident[]

Sal Maroni had since survived the Arkham City Incident, and continued running what remained of his Family. However, the Maronis would soon be targeted by the murderous vigilante Red Hood. Fearing for their lives, the Maronis fled Gotham City for good.
