Metropolis is one of the largest and most well-known metropolitan cities in the United States, owing largely to the fact that it is the adopted hometown of Metropolis' favorite son, Superman. It is a huge cultural center, and is highly technologically advanced.

Incident Report

Before Arkham City Incident

Bruce Wayne was invited to be a keynote speaker at an event in Metropolis by the mayor. During the event he was interviewed by several reporters from the Daily Planet newspaper, a newspaper whose building could be seen standing nearby. Later at the event he ran into Talia al Ghul. The two spent the following hours reminiscing on old memories.

At some point, Hugo Strange visited Metropolis. He was there to scout for locations that would act as sites for future facilities similar to Arkham City after Arkham City's success was proven.

Arkham City Incident

Hugo Strange mentions Protocol 10's Phase 2 would set similar premises in Metropolis and Keystone City.

• Suicide Slums is weird with its layout:
  • A church, energy plant, along with a grocery store next door to a strip club.
• Before it's appearance in the Arkhamverse, Metropolis was referenced several times:
  • In Batman: Arkham Asylum, Metropolis is referred to as a place where Amadeus Arkham went to college.
  • In Batman: Arkham City it is mentioned that a similar prison will soon be opening in Metropolis and Keystone City. In the Bowery a password in Riddler Trophy is "Metropolis" because it might be the Gotham-Metropolis monorail.
  • The "Beloved" story arc in the Batman: Arkham Unhinged comic series is the first Arkhamverse story known to be set in Metropolis. The story chronicles the details of what occurred when Bruce and Talia met in Metropolis, as referenced in Arkham City.
  • In Batman: Arkham Knight, there are several posters around Gotham City stating "Fly to Metropolis," showing a red streak traveling across the sky, yet another hint at Superman. Scarecrow and at least one nameless thug each mention Metropolis.
