Rayland Jurgensen is a soldier in A.R.G.U.S, who was respected in the past for his skill in armed skirmishes. As of the Metropolis Invasion, he acts as a sort of test subject to Poison Ivy. In spite of what the experiments seemingly entail, he does not seem to mind.
Personality[]
Lex Luthor describes Jurgensen as being scarcely recognizable, and implies that he is remarkable. He was once respected during his tenure at A.R.G.U.S., meaning he was possibly well-liked by his colleagues, due to his armed skirmishes against enemy military forces. He seems to be afraid of Ivy to such a point where he complies with her wishes out of fear for his safety. He seems brave on the outside, but when Ivy is near, he seems timid and submissive. He also seems to have mental toughness, due to being mentally unscathed by Ivy’s experiments and what they entail. He seems to have developed a dependency on Ivy. He also seems to have Thanatophobia (fear of death), as evident by his quote in the codex.

From the Files of Lex Luthor[]
I nearly left Rayland off my list. Not because he isn't a remarkable individual, but because he is scarcely unrecognizable as a man.
According to his file, he was once an esteemed soldier in A.R.G.U.S., used to armed skirmishes against enemy military forces. Today, he is a child's plaything, the subject of young Poison Ivy's experiments and the recipient of more Afflictions than I care to name. He has been frozen, burned, poisoned, electrified and possibly filled to bursting with pseudo-sentient plants, and still he endures, not only accepting of his fate, but seemingly grateful.
Though tempted to call this "Stockholm Syndrome", I'm fairly certain that if we survive the calamity of Braniac's invasion, the effect on our minds will require some new terms entirely.
Trivia[]
- Even after the Freeze, Frenzy, Volt and Blaze afflictions are unlocked at the end of the game, Rayland is still being experimented on in the DLC.
- Rayland essentially replaces the Trooper that Ivy was working on for the Freeze Affliction.
