- —Solomon Wayne
Solomon Wayne was a judge who worked in Gotham City. A member of the storied Wayne Family, he was good friends with Cyrus Pinkney and was an ancestor to Bruce Wayne.
History[]
Solomon Wayne was born in 1867. He grew to become a judge in Gotham City and was the ancestor of Bruce Wayne. He was a good friend of Cyrus Pinkney.
Details of Solomon Wayne's era differ between Batman: Arkham Origins and Batman: Arkham Shadow. It is currently unknown how to reconcile these conflicts.
Arkham Origins Account[]
In Batman: Arkham Origins, Judge Wayne's partnership with Pinkney occurred in the mid-19th century, with Pinkney believed by historians to have died in January 1855. Solomon helped Cyrus with the negotiations with Henry Cobblepot, but after he discovered Cobblepot's true intentions a few years later, Solomon and Cyrus went to the Mayor to support them. Solomon's hotel also put Henry's out of the business, and made Cyrus think that it was a mistake. Cyrus deceived Solomon when he approached Cobblepot to get money to finish their work. Solomon had a courthouse named after him, that was designed by Pinkney, and was found in Park Row.
Arkham Shadow Account[]
Judge Wayne’s partnership with Pinkney’s grandson and inheritor, Cyrus Pinkney III occurred in the early 20th century.
During Batman's exploration of Blackgate Island, logs are discovered putting Pinkney (who was later surmised by Gotham University to be Cyrus Pinkney III) on the island on an archaeological expedition in 1910, over 50 years after the original Pinkney was believed killed. In the logs however, Pinkney says that after the expedition, he plans to propose a renovation of Gotham to Judge Wayne, deeming him "An ideal benefactor far less recreant than Henry Cobblepot". Pinkney also mentions having seen an inscription in the foundation of Gotham Cathedral "while under contract for Judge Wayne". In another log, Pinkney attributes a quote to Judge Wayne: "Anything that cultivates malevolence must also be used to drive it out".
Wayne was moved by the tragedy of Amadeus Arkham's mother Elizabeth and offered to fund the construction of Arkham Asylum.
Trivia[]
- It was unknown if Solomon discovered that Cyrus had deceived him.
- Alfred really encouraged that case, probably because it was connected to Bruce's family.
- Going by records in Origins and City, it's likely that Solomon was Bruce's great grandfather. Solomon and Cyrus worked together in the late 1800s, and Oswald Cobblepot was born two generations after both of them.
