Taki Matsuda is an operative for A.R.G.U.S. assigned to assist the Suicide Squad during Brainiac's invasion. She assists A.R.G.U.S personnel at the firing range and offers occasionally-unwarranted advice on using firearms.

Biography[]

Taki Matsuda enlisted in A.R.G.U.S., alongside her twin sister, Hisako. Both sisters graduated at the top of their class, with Taki completing more training programs than any of her peers. Sometime after graduating, Matsuda would be assigned the role of assisting personnel in the firing range.

Kill the Justice League Incident[]

During the Metropolis Invasion, she would assume these duties at the A.R.G.U.S. occupied Hall of Justice, offering oftentimes-unwarranted and occasionally flippant advice to the Suicide Squad about using firearms whenever they use the firing range.

Personality[]

Lex Luthor describes Matsuda as being shrewd, professional, ambitious, highly skilled, smart, talented and a model soldier. She attempts to hide her resentment for Task Force X, but does a poor job of doing so. She seems annoyed to have to assist Task Force X at the firing range. According to her quote in the codex, she is a dedicated member of the Metropolis Public Library, suggesting that she is well-read. Based on Luthor’s opinion of her record, she seems to seek recognition for her actions one day, but does not seem to understand that Task Force X are merely cogs in A.R.G.U.S.‘s proverbial war machine. In spite of her shrewd and professional demeanor, she has a flippant and sassy speech pattern.

From the Files of Lex Luthor[]

Taki Matsuda is what I would have expected from a faction like A.R.G.U.S.: shrewd, professional, ambitious, and highly skilled. She is the model soldier, and her greatest crime is knowing it.

Yes, Taki's poorly concealed resentment towards Task Force X can be grating, but how can I blame one of the smartest and most talented women in the room for being annoyed that we've given the work of saving the world to a handful of unqualified oafs? She graduated at the top of her class (alongside her sister, Hisako), completed more training programs than any of her peers, and has a record proving over and over that she deserves better than what she's gotten here.

Would she be happier if she could accept that her day of recognition will come, and that Task Force X are but pawns in Waller's city-wide game of chess? Possibly. But machines of war aren't fueled by joy: they are better powered by the righteous fury of an overlooked twin.

Quotes[]

  • "Love that we're just bringing creepier and creepier men into the fold."
  • "Time to hit the range cowboy. Just mosey on over to not here."
  • "Are you taking a little standing power nap? [chuckle] Nice lifehack, Lawton. I like it."
  • "Hope your safety's on, Lawton."
  • "You know, my sister thinks you're cool. But she's always had bad taste."

Trivia[]

  • Taki is at the firing range in the Hall of Justice, often giving remarks if approached.
  • Hisako let it slip about Taki's childhood fantasy of wishing she was a mermaid.
    • Ironically, if Taki still dreams about the possibility, her wish could be fulfilled with magic; science being less likely and more painful.
